Weekly letter A teaching plan (1/2)

As promised, here are the details on the "weekly letter A teaching plan". 


Monday activities


Tracing letter A activity


We start of the week by the introduction of the letter A, both the capital and small letter using the Early Learner book that I bought from Popular Bookstore for RM8.90. From there, then we started to discuss some of the things that start with A such as Apple, Ant, Alligator, Aeroplane and Ambulance. Of course, you need to make things fun when dealing with a 3 years old kids.

Then I asked Maya to start the tracing activity
both capital and small letter A (ok boringggggg)


My giant letter A activity

Tools: 
  • Colour paper
  • Paper
  • Pen
Steps:
  • Draw a large A on A4 paper
  • Cut the colour paper (in my case I used a ribbon) into small pieces
  • Put the glue on the A shape (in my case I used a double tape) and let them stick the paper on the letter A

Tools: 
  • Colour stick (I got mine from Mr DIY store, its only RM1.79!!  https://www.mrdiy.com.my/colorful-diy-handicraft-wodden-stick-50-pcs-9014135-001001
Steps:
  • Ask your child to make the shape of A using different colour sticks



























Singing activity

Objective: To make the kids familiar with the letter A and the words that start with A

Spelling name activity


Tools: 
  • Cotton bud
  • Water colour and brush
Steps:
  • Write your kids name (big)
  • Put different water colour in the palettes and a bit of water
  • Give the kids the cotton bud and let them start to make a dot on their name



Then after finished doing it, I asked her to say the letter to form her name



Tuesday activities


Magic alphabet A activity


Tools: 
  • Candle
  • Water colour and brush
Steps:
  • Write the letter A and a in two different papers (write it big like 3/4 of the paper)
  • Put different water colour in the palettes
  • Let the kids paint the paper and they will see the secret letter

Make it the paint colour very "watery" so its easier to paint



Read story book: A for Aladdin

For the reading activity, after ive completed each page, I will asked Maya to find the letter A and a for me. Then, I will ask her to count how many of letter A and a that she found. So both, she will learn to recognize the letter and learning numbers.


All about me learning activity

Objective: To let her know how to answer basic questions about herself

These are some simple questions (I taught her to answer both in English and Bahasa):

  1. What is your name? ( I also asked her to spell her name for me)
  2. How old are you?
  3. When is your birthday?
  4. How many people are there in your family?
  5. Where do you live?
  6. What is your favourite colour?
  7. What is your favourite Disney princess?
  8. What is your favourite food?
  9. What is your favourite drink?
  10. What is your hobby? (I actually ask her, what do you like to do when you have nothing to do)
  11. What do you want to be when you grow up?
